At the end of last week, the US Department of Defense (Pentagon) announced that they had broken through the protection of the computer system, and that a greater amount of data on the travel of their employees was compromised. The attack allegedly stolen data on as many as 30,000 military and civilian employees of the Pentagon, and perhaps more. To the exact degree, it will show an investigation.
Passage to the system that keeps track of travel is compromised by personal data of employees and soldiers, as well as the numbers of their credit cards. A hacker attack may have been carried out several months ago, AP reports, but it was discovered only recently. Those responsible for the Pentagon found out about him on October 4 and immediately launched an investigation.
For now, the exact scope of the attack and the identity of the attackers are unknown. Only the protection is known to have been pervaded by the system of an external commercial service provider, through which hackers managed to access data from the US Department of Defense.
